Daedalus: Part One of Two

Daedalus: Part 1 of 2 , Dave Stern - the first Enterprise novel to branch into character backgrounds and the generally awful two-book saga territory. Here, we get most of a story (which is of course continued in the next $8 installment some months off), with a caveat: in the last two pages Stern pulls the now terribly unimaginative trick of placing all the events that have transpired in a mirror universe. This doesn't make a terrible lot of sense to me so far, even as a Trekkie fully aware of every "mirror" television episode, novel, and comic book, but I'll wait until the next one's here to trash it completely.
